Class Descriptions:

Belly Dance Fitness Classes - These classes are a great workout and fun introduction to belly dance! Learn some basic belly dance moves and a mini-choreography and get your heart rate up while having fun! Now offered at two locations:
Thursdays at 6:40 pm at the WVU Rec Center.. Free for WVU students. No registration required.
Sundays at 2:30pm - starting March 7th - at Body in Balance. Class is open and ongoing .No registration required.

Beginner's Choreography Class - Starting Feb. 21st, Sundays at 4pm.
We will be covering moves, technique, and combinations that will be used in the beginner's choreography that I will be teaching in a workshop on 3/21. This is open to anyone who has been through either 1 beginner's session or 5-6 of my rec center classes and has some familiarity with basic moves.

Choreography Workshop - March 21st, 3pm-6pm. Those who learn the choreography and can meet weekly to practice it will be able to perform in the spring Hafla. This class is open to anyone who has been through either the beginner's choreography classes, at least 3 beginner's sessions, or has prior bellydance experience - e-mail me with any questions.

Level 2 class - Next class is 2/21. Class meets every other Sunday and in these we work on more advanced techniques, combinations, rhythms, or choreographies. Admission is on a case by case basis - e-mail me for info.

Drills classes - Starting in March I will offer Tuesday evening drills classes. These are open to anyone although some belly dance or other dance experience will be helpful since it is not a basics class. The drills class will focus on training exercises to build muscle strength and coordination, drilling of basic belly dance moves, and drilling of traveling moves. It will be a great way to progress in your belly dance skills, have a fun workout, and work on new moves.

Price is $10 per class.
Choreography workshops are $25 in advance or $30 in person.

Class Policies and Recommendations

  • Payment is due prior to the start of each class unless you have paid in advance. Class fees are non-refundable unless class is cancelled.
  • Please wear clothes that are comfortable and will work for dancing
    and stretching, such as yoga pants and tank tops. You are not required to wear anything that shows your midriff, but it does make it easier for me to adjust your alignment and posture if I can see your torso. A hip scarf or coin belt can accentuate movements, which may help you to learn them.


  • Please do not bring significant others or friends to watch the class. Having an audience may be intimidating to your fellow students.
